A great man by the name of John Hopkins has used his talents to bless our mission. He has handmade a beautiful exact replica of our Taft Habitat home! Habitat Construction Manager, Val Minkis, gave John the floor plans and he created a model to scale!

Take a look at the pictures attached. The model is on display in the Habitat office lobby. John made special molds to create the windows and trusses. He even took the time to make fish scales for the front of the home by cutting popsicle sticks, creating a pattern and making a plastic mold of it! The roof of the home lifts off to reveal a full-color, to-scale laminated floor plan! All of the doors open and close with a magnet…. It is lovingly detailed down to a shiny gold front doorknob and welcome mat. J

We are really grateful to guys like John… a retired man who could say, “I can’t contribute much,” but instead has chosen to look for a way he can put his unique, innate skills to use for the people around him, and do something great!
