Media Alert What: Indiana Ag House CountryMark Panel Build Where: Indiana State Fairgrounds, southwest parking lot When: The Indiana Ag House CountryMark Panel Build will begin Thursday, June 10 at 7 a.m. and conclude around noon. At 9:45 a.m., the following sponsors and project leaders will make public remarks to the 80-plus on-site volunteers: CountryMark CEO Charlie Smith, Indiana State Fair Executive Director Cindy Hoye, and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis Development Director Stephen Craig. Purdue (Graphic Design & Education) Facts of Interest • This is only the second Habitat affiliate in the country to build a home during a State Fair and then move the house to its permanent location. This home will begin with the CountryMark Panel Build on June 10. Construction will resume on August 6 and the home will be completed on August 19 – all under the watchful eyes of one million Indiana State Fairgoers! • During the state fair, volunteers from various agricultural businesses and organizations will work side-by-side to construct the Ag House on the north side of the fairgrounds. On most days, the home will be open for visitors to walk through during the mid-day and evenings of the fair. • After the conclusion of the Indiana State Fair, the Ag House will move to a residential lot in the nearby neighborhood of the King Park Community Development Corporation. • This 5-bedroom home is being built for Tamika Allen and her family. Tamika is an employee of Kroger. • Indiana agriculture represents 16 percent of the state’s workforce and is a $25 billion industry.
