The Hall Family - 2011 Hello, my name is Sharron D. Hall. I was born to Edward James Hall I and Bernice McIntyre-Hall on June 28, 1969. I have one 25 year old son. I also have three brothers and two sisters. So far, a simple life for a simple girl; not so! As you will read, my life will take on many journeys, twists, and even a fork in the road. All of which helped to make me who I am today. I had a pretty eventful childhood. My family was the first Black clown troupe in my hometown of Flint, Michigan. We got paid $20 an hour to do children’s parties. When my mom and dad broke up, my dad was never around. I grew up in a household where love and attention went lacking. At the time, my mother felt she did the best she could providing us with food, clothing, and shelter. My mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia when I was about seven years old. Living with her during that time of her illness was life threatening and chaotic most of the time. The influence of her diagnosis and satan’s control was so strong that her actions/behavior became inappropriate. Our home was full of alcohol, sex and drugs. As a result of my surroundings, I began looking for love in all the wrong places and ways. At the age of 12, a child myself, I became pregnant and gave birth to my son at age 13. I was wild and rebellious and had a mindset to do what I wanted to do. I stayed in and out of foster homes, juvenile homes, girl’s schools and training schools from the age of 13 to 17 years of age. During this time of going in and out of different homes I gave my sister legal guardianship of my son, because I didn’t want him to be a ward of the state. So for the first seven years of my son’s life, he was raised by my sister. I have also been homeless, slept in a car with all of my earthly belongings, and lived in a shelter with my son. One positive influence in my life was my praying grandmother. Although she didn’t help me on a daily basis, I’m sure her prayers kept me from losing my mind. I eventually gave my life to the Lord on May 31st 1992 while in Seattle, WA. All that I went through in my childhood and teen years, the devil meant it for bad but God meant it for my good in the end! Today, I have several passions that are mostly related to my experiences while growing up. Some of my experiences were being homeless, witnessing molestation/incest of minors, disrespect of seniors, incarceration, and the use of alcohol and marijuana starting at tender age of about 5 or 6. All of these issues that plague me and society today, I want to be on the helping end of these problems. I want to advance my own life to embrace things that I have missed out on. In five years, I pray to be in my home in a nice area, married, and finished with my Bachelor’s degree and probably working on a Master’s degree. In 10 years, if the Lord tarries, I plan to open up a home for men and women transitioning from prison placing special interest on Deaf men and women who have been incarcerated. I would like to be financially able to help them get on their feet, find a job and become good law abiding citizens. I am also an interpreter in the Deaf community; I would love to be professionally and socially positioned to assist them in unlocking professional and social doors that have been locked to them for far too long! |
