The Simmons Family
We met in ’97, it was supposed to just be a “fling.” But like they say: “You wanna make God laugh? Then tell him your plans.”
We grew into a friendship and then a relationship. Mona already had a daughter of her own, but in 2002 we had another addition to our family, another girl.
Shyniece, the oldest is 17 and about to graduate. She plans to go into the military. Toryion is 7 and she wants to be a doctor when she grows up.
I am a Veteran having served in the Navy (1989-1992), served overseas in Desert Storm/Desert Shield, attached to the USS Saratoga.
We moved to Indianapolis in 2005 after losing everything in Hurricane Katrina. New Orleans was our home, but thru the grace of God, family, and friends, we’ve been able to move on.
We greatly appreciate this wonderful opportunity the people of Indianapolis and Habitat for Humanity have given us. The assistance that Habitat for Humanity and the other sponsors cannot be matched but will be greatly rewarded by God.
