Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis consolidates operations with Habitat for Humanity of Hendricks County
As of April 1, 2013, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis (HFHGI) has expanded its geographic service area to now operate in Hendricks County. With this consolidation, the organization seeks to increase the capacity for Habitat to provide the life-changing opportunity to purchase and own quality, affordable homes for more Hendricks County families.
In expanding its 25-year service to Marion County, HFHGI looks forward to building on the 20-year history of Habitat’s presence in Hendricks County. This consolidation joins similar efforts in metropolitan areas across the United States to create stronger and more productive operations to serve more families in need.
HFHGI believes the expansion will accomplish the following outcomes.
- Increased economies of scale to allow financial resources to go farther.
- Lower overhead and put more dollars into direct service with the ultimate goal of serving more families in need.
- A central fundraising operation that can access and cross pollinate resources.
- Expand ReStore operations.
- Reduce sponsor and donor confusion.
The next steps of the Hendricks County expansion include plans to open a ReStore in 2013. HFHGI expects to provide homeownership to current qualified homeowners in the program and to begin cultivating new families in need to enter the program in 2014. HFHGI will continue to use the current office location at 360 North State Road 267 in Avon as the Hendricks County operations office.
